Why I Recommend Perry Homes

We had an unexpected situation at our home when we were overseas on holiday. Our hot water cylinder sprung a leak and had been pouring out water in biblical proportion before being discovered some 24 hours later. This impacted the whole ground floor of our home with extensive water damage and dampness affecting each and every part. 

Simon Fisher of Perry Homes Ltd previously worked on our home when we undertook internal renovation and home improvement work and had done a superb job, as such we contacted Simon to determine how to approach this flood situation.

This was not a small task as our ground floor consisted of a large hall, an entry-porch, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 laundry, various built-in coat and linen cupboards, wardrobes and other internal cupboards.       

Simon took charge, and within a day reported back.  Between us, all the relevant parties that had to be notified and be in attendance had been, and those that needed to be, were on-site.  The result was we needed to strip the whole of the existing ground floor and then re-build and re-fit the whole of the internal ground floor of our home.  Simon took the lead, and from start to finish project managed the whole job for us, the benefits of which became more apparent as the job progressed to its successful conclusion.

This involved coordinating and overseeing with other professionals and trades people including, architects, engineers, plumbers, tilers, plasters, painters, electricians, carpet layers and the likes.  It also included providing the relevant scoping documentation for insurance purposes and the necessary information for council sign-off and issue of compliance certification.

I did not have the time, skill or knowledge to coordinate and manage this kind of job.  And just as importantly I did not know what other trades and skills I needed to access.  Not only did Simon take care of all this but also brought in and gave me access to other well skilled professional trades people.  Simon’s skill, workmanship and approach which I already knew from our previous job, I was more than happy with.  The other trades people that Simon brought in were all high-quality skilled individuals who took care and pride in their work.  I wouldn’t have been able to do this without his built-up-over-time network of trusted work colleagues; this was invaluable.  All these people were trustworthy individuals and a pleasure to have on-site.

We would have regular meetings whereby Simon would update me on the progress of the job from a financial and timeline perspective.  The work was conducted and finished with a minimum of disruption to a high standard by all those involved on the job.  I was delighted with the finished job.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Perry Homes to any prospective client and would be happy to vouch for them if requested to do so.

“We were recently introduced to Simon through a friend of ours and we asked him to come and look at a 1906, two bedroom house we had just purchased in Seatoun. The interior was dated and the whole house needed modernisation. There was an amazing sea view but it could only be appreciated from the front sunroom. One bedroom was very small and the entry to the bathroom and toilet was through the kitchen. We had some basic ideas, which saw some functional changes to the house. Simon started work a week after possession and stripped the house back to it bones. This is when he suggested some visionary ideas, which would transform the house completely. Ideas we would never have thought of ourselves. The house was to be open plan, removal of a chimney and wall creating amazing views of the sea from the back door, through the dining room, lounge and sunroom. The dining room flowed into an open plan kitchen and a corridor was created which segregated the toilet and bathroom. The bedrooms were refigured to increase the size and new wardrobes created. 

Each step of the way Simon ensured that the work carried out was structurally sound, and of a very high level of workmanship. There was a multiple conversations on a daily basis, where he shared the progress and sought our advice on what we wanted. 

The age of the house brought up some unforeseen issues and these were discussed in depth ensuring a cost effective solution was adopted. This contact made us feel involved and in control of our project.

Simon was very competent and capable at managing the entire project ensuring the alignment of contractors and his workers so minimising any delays. 

Any house project comes with stress, but I am pleased that Simon bore much of this by competently sorting the issues expediently whilst keeping us informed. 

It is now obvious to me that Simon’s building expertise and experience has been the major factor in giving us a completed house that at the outset we would never have realised. The return on investment brought about by the quality workmanship is also an added bonus.”
